Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) Application

Are you considering making Singapore your second home?
Singapore Permanent Residency (PR) offers long-term residency and benefits for individuals and families.
Around 100,000 foreigners apply for PR annually, but only about 30,000 are approved by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
The PR population is maintained at around 530,000, with a goal to identify potential future Singapore citizens.
PR applications are highly competitive, requiring a well-prepared and strategic approach to increase approval chances.
The ICA evaluates applications based on various factors such as family ties, family profile, economic and social contributions.
There are several pathways to PR, including employment, family ties, investment, or exceptional talent, each with specific eligibility criteria.
Benefits of Singapore Permanent Resident Status
Acquiring Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) status grants individuals access to a myriad of benefits and rights akin to those enjoyed by Singaporean citizens. As a Singapore PR, individuals can live and work in the country without constraints, pursue higher education with priority admission to public schools and universities, and explore diverse career opportunities. Additionally, PRs can purchase properties, travel visa-free, and access healthcare subsidies, making Singapore an attractive and desirable place to call home.
The benefits of Singapore Permanent Resident status encompass:
Pathway to Singapore Citizenship
Singapore PR status serves as the primary pathway to obtaining Singaporean citizenship, allowing individuals to apply for citizenship after holding PR status for at least two years. While the citizenship application process is more rigorous than the PR application, it offers the opportunity to become a full-fledged citizen of Singapore.

Healthcare Subsidies
PRs are entitled to government subsidies for medical services at public hospitals, polyclinics, and national centers. Additionally, they can benefit from Singapore's national medical savings scheme, Medisave, which assists in subsidizing medical treatment and hospitalization bills.

Flexibility of Singapore Visa
PRs enjoy the freedom to live in Singapore without visa restrictions and can enter and exit the country without the need for multiple travel documents. While the PR status does not expire, individuals must ensure the renewal of their Re-Entry Permit (REP) as needed.

Education Priorities & Subsidies
PR children receive priority placement in government schools, ensuring access to quality education. They are also eligible for subsidies and tuition grants to study in local or private institutions, providing enhanced educational opportunities.

Career Opportunities & Stability
Holding PR status offers greater career stability, allowing individuals to change jobs without concerns about work pass renewals. PRs also benefit from more employment opportunities, as government policies prioritize locals and PRs for career progression.

Sponsorship of Long-Term Visit Passes (LTVP) for Family Members
PRs can sponsor their legally married spouse, unmarried children under 21, and aged parents to reside in Singapore with the LTVP, without the need to meet specific salary criteria.
Government Pension
PRs contribute to the Central Provident Fund (CPF) scheme, which provides financial support for home ownership, healthcare, education, and asset growth. They can also enjoy tax relief through CPF contributions and have the option to withdraw accumulated CPF funds if they decide to renounce their PR status.
Property Ownership
PRs can purchase resale public housing (HDB) and enjoy property tax benefits. They also have easier access to housing loans and pay a lower Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD) rate when purchasing their first property in Singapore.
